Hypein vs Modash: 380 Million Profiles, or 100 Checked Ones

Modash indexes every creator account above 1,000 followers. Hypein does the opposite — creators apply, a person checks each one, and around 100 verified creators join each month. Here is what that difference means when you are actually booking a campaign in the Gulf.

Both tools solve the same first problem: you need creators, and you need to know their numbers are real before you pay them. They solve it in opposite ways, and the choice between them comes down to one question — do you want a database to filter, or a list someone has already filtered?

This is written by the team behind Hypein, so treat it as a considered argument rather than a neutral review. We have tried to keep every claim about Modash sourced from their own pricing and product pages, and we say plainly where they are the better tool. Figures were checked on 28 August 2026.

How each platform builds its creator list

Modash indexes automatically. Their database holds 380 million+ profiles with over 1,000 followers across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Nothing is curated, because curating 380 million accounts is not possible — the index makes no promise about any individual profile. Whether the account is still active, whether the engagement was bought, whether the email will bounce, whether the creator even wants to hear from brands: all of that is your job to work out.

Hypein works the other way round. There is no crawler filling the pool. A creator applies, submits their platforms, location, categories and rates, and consents to being approached by brands. Then a person reviews the profile before it is listed. Roughly 100 creators clear that each month.

The pool is a fraction of the size of a global index. That is the point — the filtering happened before you got there.

What clearing the check means in practice:

Why that matters more in MENA than anywhere else

A global index ranks by follower count and treats a country as an audience filter. Ask any of them for the top creators in Saudi Arabia and you get regional mega-celebrities and diaspora accounts with large audiences in the market — not creators who live there, post in Khaleeji Arabic, and can legally take paid work.

The creators most Gulf campaigns actually need — the food account with 40,000 engaged local followers, the beauty creator whose audience really is in the Kingdom — sit in the long tail, and digging them out is precisely the work the tool was supposed to do for you.

THE TRADE, STATED PLAINLY
If you measure a platform by database size, Modash wins and it is not close. If you measure it by how many profiles you discard before finding someone you can brief on Monday, the comparison looks different.

Where Modash is the better choice

A comparison page that only lists our own strengths is not much use, so here is the other side of the ledger. Choose Modash if:

If two or more of those apply, Modash is the right tool and we would rather you knew now than after a trial.

Pricing, and what the money meters

Hypein starts at $99 a month (Starter), with Growth at $250 and Pro at $499. Modash lists Essentials at $199 a month billed annually, or $299 billed monthly, and Performance at $499 annually. At the entry tier Hypein is roughly half; by the middle tier the gap narrows.

The more useful question is what each one charges you for. Modash meters profile opens and email unlocks — 300 and 150 a month on Essentials, 800 and 400 on Performance — so a heavy sourcing month means watching a counter. Hypein meters the creators you keep: 100 on Starter, 300 on Growth, 800 on Pro, with brands and campaigns unlimited from Growth up.

Neither model is better in the abstract. If you open hundreds of profiles and save few, per-open metering gets expensive fast. If you build a roster and keep returning to it, a saved-creator limit is the cheaper shape. Work out which you are before comparing headline prices.

What happens after you have found someone

Discovery is the first hour. The rest is outreach, agreeing terms, getting a contract signed, checking the content went live and reporting on what it did. Both products go beyond discovery; they emphasise different parts of it.

Modash puts its weight behind tracking and payment: content is collected automatically without creators signing up, and you can pay them from the platform. Hypein puts its weight behind the paperwork and the pipeline — contracts and e-signature with reusable templates, message templates for outreach, a network view that tracks each creator from first contact to hired so a team of five is not approaching the same person three times, and Viral Lab, a live feed of what is going viral across MENA right now.

And because we work in one region only, the guidance is specific: what creators actually charge in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and what the UAE advertiser permit and Saudi Mawthooq licence require before a paid post goes live.

So which one should you use?

If your campaigns run in the Gulf and you would rather search 100 checked creators a month than filter a scraped index, Hypein is built for you, and $99 a month with a 7-day trial is a cheap way to find out. If you need global scale, YouTube, or Shopify attribution, Modash is the better platform.

Some teams run both — Modash for global breadth, Hypein for the MENA roster and the campaign workflow. If your spend is mostly regional, though, that is usually paying twice for discovery.

Common questions

Is Hypein a Modash alternative?

For MENA-focused campaigns, yes. Hypein covers the same core job — finding creators, checking their numbers, running the campaign — with a verified regional pool plus built-in contracts and payment tracking. It is not a like-for-like replacement if you need YouTube coverage, global sourcing scale, or Shopify sales attribution.

How is the Hypein creator pool different from a 380M database?

Hypein does not index creators automatically. Creators apply, and each one is reviewed by a person before being added — roughly 100 new verified creators a month. The pool is far smaller by design: every profile is a real, active account with a working email given with consent, so there are no dormant or spam profiles to filter out.

How much does Hypein cost compared to Modash?

Hypein starts at $99 per month on Starter, with Growth at $250 and Pro at $499. Modash lists Essentials at $199 per month billed annually or $299 billed monthly, and Performance at $499 billed annually. Hypein offers a 7-day trial with no credit card; Modash offers 14 days with capped usage.

Does Hypein cover YouTube?

No. Hypein covers Instagram and TikTok, which is where most MENA influencer budgets go. Modash covers Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, so it is the better choice if YouTube is central to your campaigns.

Can creators apply to be listed on Hypein?

Yes, and applying is the only way into the pool. Creators submit their platforms, location, categories, rates and contact details, and each application is reviewed before approval. Modash states that creators do not browse and apply to it, which is a real difference in how the two lists are built.

Does Hypein handle contracts and payments?

Contracts and e-signature are built in with reusable templates, and payments are tracked per campaign and per creator. Hypein does not move money on your behalf — you pay creators through your own bank or payout provider. Modash can send payments to creators directly.

THE SHORT VERSION
Hypein is built for MENA and every creator in it was checked by a person before being listed — around 100 new verified creators a month. If your campaigns run in the Gulf, start there. If you need global scale or platforms we do not cover, Modash is the better tool and we would rather say so.
